OBESITY REPRESENTS AN INDEPENDENT RISK FACTOR OF ESOPHAGEAL ADENOCARCINOMA
Obesity increases the risk of esophageal adenocarcinoma and, to a lesser extent, of gastroesophageal union, independent from other factors. An increase in body mass has a synergic effect with gastroesophageal reflux symptoms, in the appearance of the aforesaid types of cancer.
